Parade and Costume Contest Details

The Halloween Festival Parade is one of the most anticipated events of the festival. This year's parade will include several new participants as well as a few surprises.

As always, kids are encouraged to dress up in costume and take part in the parade. A costume contest will take place at 3:30 just before the start of this year's parade.

If you would like to enter your child in the costume contest and participate in the parade, please bring your child to S. Audubon in front of the library at 3:30. Judging will take place at 3:45.

The parade will begin at 4pm and proceed down East Washington Street and then down Johnson Ave in front of Lazy Daze.

And, by popular demand, we have include a pet costume contest in the parade this year. You are welcome to include your pet in the parade. However, pets will need to walk separately at the back of the parade, away from the children. If your pet does not play well with other animals or people, please DO NOT PARTICIPATE. We need to ensure that all of our participants remain safe during the parade. If we see signs of aggression, we reserve the right to remove you and your pet from the parade.

Awards will be announced following the parade on the main stage in front of the library.

Congratulations to Jennifer Constantine, our 2009 Miss Irvington Halloween Festival Queen

Congratulations to Jennifer Constantine on being crowned as the 2009 Miss Irvington Halloween Festival Queen.

In addition to wearing the crown for the year, Jennifer walks away with a $1,000 college scholarship and is eligible to compete in the 2010 Indiana State Festival Pageant for an opportunity to win an additional scholarship. Look for our Queen this week at some of our Halloween festival activities and on Saturday in the parade.

1st runner-up honors and $500 were awarded to Natalie Warner and 2nd runner up honors and $250 went to Anna Preuschl.

All of the contestants this year were unbelievably outstanding and the intense competition made it difficult for the judges to make a decision. Deliberation took nearly 30 minutes while the room waited on the edge of their seats.

A special thanks to the folks at Snips Salon for organizing the entire event.  And thanks to our judges and sponsors for making the event a such a great success.
